#Akkemini, 2019

One day in October 2019 I found a teeny tiny sketchpad and decided to finish one small drawing each day. To keep myself accountable I posted them to my stories on Instagram, and for Instagram one needs a hashtag, hence the name.
Initially I started making them to force myself to draw everyday. To my surprise the biggest win for me was that I finished something every day and to see my work evolve so quickly. I kept on drawing them everyday until Christmas. Shortly after I went to the wood workshop of a friend and made these tiny bamboo frames.

All frames are handmade, making every #Akkemini a unique piece filled with the drawing of your choice. Find your favorite below.

Pencil, watercolor and/or marker on a tiny piece of paper.
Framed in handmade bamboo frame, 82x70x22mm.
In edition of 12 frames (still some available).

Akkemay Lammers
(Vorden, 1991)

Drawn to everything we cannot see with our eyes or explain with our rational minds, but know anyway, I try to capture the subtle energies that carry us through our days. An invisible and incomprehensible chain of movement, quietly affecting one another. A silent motion that connects us all.
I consider both my visual work and the yoga teachings I share as an expression of my ever evolving spiritual journey. Being deeply inspired by and invested in the yogic tradition and philosophy, rituals and repetition are an important aspect of my artistic practice. Taking the shape of a mountain, following the movement of the sea or feeling into the colors of the wind make me experience myself more deeply connected with all of life around me.

Through art and yoga, I intend to share the magic. As teacher and practitioner I dream of change and being of service. As creative, one of the ways I do that is by sharing my expression of being human in words, colour and form.

Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu May all beings everywhere be happy and free, and may my thoughts, words, and actions contribute in some way to that happiness and freedom for all.

I strongly believe that having a strong and healthy connection to yourself enables a loving connection to the world around you.
Hoping to find some relief for my stressed body, I started regularly practicing Iyengar yoga in 2012. It wasn’t until a burn-out completely knocked me of my feet that I discovered the full potential of yoga and meditation. Committing to a daily practice of grounding and connecting to the body paved the way back to myself. Feeling the urge to pass it on, I became a certified Vinyasa Yoga Teacher (RYT200) and have never stopped learning since.

In my classes I encourage students to be present and explore the body whilst moving with the breath. Embracing a sense of curiosity and flow, whilst at the same time bringing self-awareness by focusing on alignment. I’m hoping to inspire students to nurture the relationship with themselves, and, most importantly, to never forget smiling - both on the mat and off the mat.
